Aloha Rocky People!
Our next rehearsal will be this Saturday, January 4th from 10am - 2pm at KHSPAC. We will be doing character work, finding the mood/spirit of the show, and doing a play-through of the entire script. Come ready to move and to use your voices and creativity! Get to know the music - at least the general melody/meaning of your songs. (Phantoms - listen to the backup singers on each soundtrack - not sure which we're using yet.)
Please bring a snack to sustain you, or something to share if you are so inclined, since we will be rehearsing through all reasonable lunch-times. We will take a break.
Please let me know if you cannot make it to any portion of this rehearsal - I have your conflicts, but they're not in one place where I can look, yet, so, hard to keep them all straight.
Tuesday is your last day to turn in - in writing - any conflicts you may have overlooked, or were not able to give me specific dates and times. You cannot miss rehearsal without an excused conflict in writing. Tuesday, January 7th.
Please share this info with your parental units. I will re-post this to the Facebook page. I will send this schedule to your parents' emails - hopefully tonight - oh, so many emails to add to the list!
Does anyone have school on Monday, Jan 6th? Not sure how to schedule that day yet, but for Tuesday, Jan 7th - I am waiting to see who we need that day, may be full company for music rehearsal.
I sent you all an email via Dropbox with the 3 soundtracks we will be working from. You will need to load Dropbox onto your computer/electronic device, and load the music from there. Please use the soundtracks for inspiration - do not copy other actors artistry - find you own, it's so much more interesting and authentic! Let me know if you have a problem loading the music.

Announces Auditions
for
The rocky horror show
Kaimuki High School Performing Arts Center presents
their spring musical production of “the rocky horror show” from February 21 – March
9, 2014. Students enrolled at any public
or charter school on Oahu are encouraged to
audition. This audition is open to
students from grade 7 to grade 12. Play Production credit is available to
qualifying students.
Auditions will be
held December 11 and 12 from 3:00 to 6:30 p.m. at KHSPAC’s auditorium. Callbacks only on December 13, from 2:30-6
p.m.
KHSPAC is looking for
committed young actors, singers, and dancers for the cast of The
Rocky
Horror Show.
The Rocky Horror Show,
with music, lyrics, and book by Richard O’Brien, is a story of self discovery
and being true to your own nature. It is
also a humorous tribute to the science fiction B movies of the 1950s. The musical tells the story of newly engaged
couple, Brad Majors and Janet Weiss, who take shelter from a storm in an old
castle – which happens to be inhabited by mad-scientist-alien, Dr. Frank N. Furter,
who is about to unveil his newest creation, “Rocky”.
The musical, originally produced and directed by
Jim Sharman, premiered in London, at the Royal Court Theatre (Upstairs) in June
of 1973, moved on to several other locations, and closed in September of
1980. It ran for a total of 2,960 performances,
and won the 1973 Evening Standard Award for Best Musical. Its 1974 debut in the US in Los
Angeles
The play was adapted into a film, and released in
1975 as The Rocky Horror Picture Show. The film is the longest-running
release in film history; it has never been pulled from rotation of its original
release, and continues to play in cinemas all over the world. The film, as well as the play, has become the
very definition of a cult classic.
Rehearsals
at KHSPAC begin with a read-through of the play on Wednesday December 18,
2013. All actors are required to attend
the read-through. We will take a holiday
break from December 23 -January 3rd
resuming rehearsals on Saturday, January 4th.
Monday-Friday
rehearsals 3:30pm to 6:30pm; Saturday rehearsals 10:00am to 4:00pm (TBD.) Performances run from
February 21 – March 9. Please bring conflict information for December 17 –
March 9 to the auditions.

Performers should
come prepared to sing at least 16 bars of a Broadway song from traditional
Broadway or Rock Musical repertoire (shows like The Who’s Tommy, Rent, Next To Normal, and Grease). Rock songs are also
options. No pop or rap songs. Please
bring sheet music written in the key you will perform it – a pianist will be
provided. No recordings or acapella will
be allowed.
Performers should prepare a memorized monologue about
one minute in length for the acting portion of the audition. Come dressed in
appropriate dance clothes and shoes for the dance audition.
Rehearsals
at KHSPAC begin with a read-through of
the play on Tuesday, December 17, 2013. All

ABOUT KHSPAC
Kaimuki High School Performing Arts Learning Center offers
classes in acting, music, dance and technical theater at no cost to public
school students all over Oahu . The program’s
mission is based on the belief that performing arts develop important life
skills including discipline, teamwork, creativity, self-awareness, confidence,
focus and appreciation of the performing arts. Under the direction of M.J.
Matsushita, the program and its musical and dramatic productions involve over
160 students who present three major productions per school year. KHSPAC is one of three Department of
Education learning centers for performing arts on Oahu .
